I went backpacking!

Since we had a little break from the heat wave on Saturday, mom and dad decided to go on an overnight backpacking trip to a nature area not far from our home. We live in the Loess Hills of Western Iowa, which are furry beautiful and furry steep... especially if you have short legs like moi. But mom said I did GREAT!

After we hiked to our campsite and set up the tent, we hiked around some more.
Here I am hiking wiff dad:

We went fur a walk in the clouds, BOL!

Look at the view!

I'm so happy!

After the hike, I rested in the tent. I also learned what a "tick check" is. Boo!

I got a tired and had to take a nap...

Dis was the view from our tent!

And dis was the view on the other side:

Pretty, huh? Mom loves these hills.

Here is a picture mom took the next day:

"Hellooooo ladies..."

I had a lot of fun camping. If anyone wants to read more about the Loess Hills, click here. They are furry unique!

Wow, you're a good hiker! Tick checks are no fun, but very important! I'm glad you had a good time!

:(!! Maybe I'll take a magic carpet ride to visit you and Boomer.

It looks like you had a great time camping!! My two leggers used to go tent camping with my sisters before my time but never went backpacking. That looks like lots of fun! There are so many of us now, we take a whole trailer when we go camping. But that's not really camping now is it? BOL!

Hi Cloud,

That looks like lots of fun! Did you see any wild critters?

My mom took me, Pink Baby and Banjo hiking once and we had a great time. She used to hike every weekend when she had big dogs. Now she is old and lazy and would prolly die if she tried hiking up one of those hills. BOL

Have you ever been to Waubonise? My mom used to go trail riding there, back when she had a horse.

Oh gosh, Cloud! What a Most Wonderful time! I LUVS getting out and hiking around with my family! Those pictures were very much beautiful for sure.

I've only been camping once since I got adopted and it didn't turn out too good. It rained a lot and then these little flying buggies came out and nibbled on me all over. So we all packed up and came home early. Mom says camping isn't always like that but I didn't believes her until I saw your camping pictures, so I might gives it another try.

What a lovely place to go backpacking! You're a lucky dog.
The only places we can do that in Malaysia are basically jungles filled with mosquitoes, insects, snakes, etc.

cloud my love--what a great hike~! my dad would have LOVED this, but mum? she would have been trying to sweep out the dirt in the tent and complaining about not having enough face wipes and her getting zits--blah blah. ah, but dad still loves her. ;)

What a fun time that trip must have been! Glad you got some cooler air in Iowa, it hasn't let up here in Kansas at all.

We don't like those tick checks either, and they are really hard to find on us.

We love going hiking and camping, though the hu-dad says that now that he is old, he prefers the RV approach to camping (what he used to call cheating).

Cloud and Kathleen,
I love the pictures of Cloud eating his Birthday peanut butter from the spoon! It's all in his expressive eyes! And Kat, it takes one to know one, missed you and Cloud sweetie! Looks like all of you had a blast camping. Glad you all able to take some time off and enjoy that beautiful country you have out there. Love (LOVE) the poem and Willie Wonka (both Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp). Does Cloud EVER take a bad picture? NO!!! Next year we have a huge party for the big 1-0. Love you, MB, Josie and Blues
