Hello, evfurryone!!! I know it's been a furry long time since I last posted, almost a whole year! It's all mom's fault, of course. But we have been thinking about our blog furiends a lot lately. We've been saddened to learn of hardships and tragedies. Know that mom and I love you all furry much!

Dis is my favorite place to hang out most days. Years of laying on top of the sofa have squished the cushion down into a nice little nest fur me. Mom has long since given up trying to keep me off... I'm so determined, and it makes me so happy to sit up there and look out the window and guard our house. It's a furry important job!

In the winter, I get lots of blankets to keep me nice and warm. I like to burrow under them. I don't know why mom calls me a hamster when I do that..? She has no idea what I'd do to a hamster if I saw one!!!

Yesterday was furry nice and warm - 65 degrees here in Iowa! We went to one of our favorite places to go hiking!!

I was furry happy to go hiking wiff mom. I got to smell all kinds of wonderful things, including coyote poo. It was so exotic!!

Well, we just wanted to check in and say HELOO!! and let you know that we're doing fine. I doubt we'll be blogging here regularly, but we'll try not to go a whole year next time.

Hellooooo out there......

Well pups, kittehs, and humans, here it is almost Feb of 2011 and I'm not sure how I lost control of dis blog, but it happened somewhere in the last few months. It's all moms fault, of course. Since she switched from acrylic to oil paint a few months ago, she's very focused on her art.

Well, that means lots more studio time as well as new art groups and weekly goings on. There are only so many hours in a day. So now mom is in a conundrum with what to do with my blog.

We are so sorry we haven't been keeping up wiff our friends blogs. We hope you are all doing well. We think of you guys often, and will try to stop by now and then to see what you're up to. I will try not to let months go by without checking in again.

I've been fine. Doing lots of THIS lately:

Yes, that's me hanging out in my Marfa bed watching mom paint. I look bored, BOL! I've also been having fun destuffing toys and playing tug, and of course, lots of cuddle time.

Boomer is fine. As fine as an almost 18 year old grouchy kitteh can be. She still bops me on the head when she gets the chance.

Mom is on facebook if anyone wants to send her a friend request. It's easier for her to keep up with things that way.

Belated Happy New Year, and I might as well wish everyone Happy Valentines Day in case I don't get back here in time, BOL! Especially to Miss Puddles, and my best kitteh Madi, and my man crush Tank, who is almost as suave as me.

I got to meet #1!!!!

Hi evfurrybody! I had something FURRY exciting happen to me last week - I got to meet #1 from The Poupounette blog! She had commissioned two paintings from my mom, and came to Iowa for a big horse show last week, so we got to meet her!!

Mom posted about the paintings on her blog today if you want to see better photos of them, but since this is MY blog, I'm just going to tell you about what the meeting was like fur ME!

#1 (and her friend) were both furry nice, and petted me and said all kinds of nice things to me. Her friend was French, so #1 would speak French to her, and it sounded like music to my extremely cute and suave ears! I enjoyed how it sounded, especially when they were talking about my toenails being different colors, and about my dignified greying muzzle. And about how handsome I was, we can't furget that, BOL!

I don't look especially happy in dis second photo, but that was only because the sun was in my eyes.

It was so much fun to meet #1, and for all you who are wondering, she is just as nice in person as she is on the blog.

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've blogged. Mom has a lot of irons in the fire these days, and blogging time has been put on the back burner. I promise to check in whenever there is news, and more often when I'm able. Know that I love all my blogging friends, and think of you often and hope you are all well.

Visitors are still here!

Hi evfurryone! Well, my visitors are still here. Thank you guys fur all the kind words about grandma and grandpa. They are fine, although grandma did have to stay overnight in the hospital. Their trailer was totaled, I guess those things aren't meant to slide down the road on their sides, but they got to buy a new one and are loading it up before they go back on the road. So we still has the pets fur another day or so.

As you can see, I am furry well, and even more handsome. Hey Puddles, check out my muskles!

Oy is still furry cute, according to mom. She says he must be cute according to me too, because I have started humping him. Jeez, mom!! That's only to put the little twerp in his place and show him he's living in Cloud's World!

Boomer is still crazy, BOL. She is a ball of fire!

But we are getting along better. Here we are conspiring amongst the Hostas...

Our Boomer is doing dis right now. She's not crazy about the visitors and wants to hang out on mom's desk where they can't reach her. Miss Kitty is still living downstairs. Boomer HATES other cats, and is stressed and grouchy enough already, so mom thought it was best to keep her and Miss Kitty separate while she is here.

I wonder if I'll miss them when they're gone??

I has company!

Hi evfurryone, I has company! Grandma and Grandpa and their pets were in a bad accident while traveling in their RV. Luckily, no one was hurt, but they asked if mom and dad could come pick up the pets and keep them while they sort through the wreckage, deal wiff insurance, and buy a new RV. (They are far from home, they live 8 hours away from us. But the accident was an hour away from our house.) They're not sure how long it will take, so the pets may be here several days or a week.

Dis is Oy. He is a 7 year old long hair dachshund. He is pretty laid back and cool:

Dis is Boomer. (Which is sort of confusing to me because our cat's name is Boomer.)

Boomer is a 1 year old dachshund/golden retriever cross. Grandpa calls her a Golden Wiener, BOL!

Dis is Miss Kitty. She is still kind of scared from the accident and just wants to hang out in her crate most of the time. But she is eating and drinking and using the litter box. She is alright as far as cats go...

And dis is me. You see the look on my face? It says, "what is going on???"

Dis is what Boomer looks like most of the time. She is kind of crazy. Mom says she's just young and full of energy.

Dis picture looks furry much like the picture of me in my header. Dat's weird...

You can see the golden retriever in her face and ears. It also gave her a pretty coat.

He likes to hang out by the back door and watch us run.

Mom says he is cute.

But of course, not as cute as ME!!

We still don't have a lot of time fur blogging right now, but I wanted to say "hi" to my furiends, and "I miss you!" and to show you guys what was going on around here.

Marfa, Marfa, Marfa!!!

Mom was at Petsmart and saw these Marfa Stewart beds and decided she was tired of me laying on top of the back of the sofa and squishing it into a swaybacked mess, so she got me one.

She knew I would look dashing and oh-so suave in Marfa Stewart Blue. She was right.

Since it's been about 800 degrees here lately, I've been spending a lot of time playing inside and hanging out on my new Marfa bed.

Easy, grrrrrls.....

As you can see in these pictures, mom had to put loud crinkly paper on top of the sofa to keep me off. Dis is because even tho I like my new Marfa bed, I prefer to lie on top of the sofa and squish it, BOL!

Mom got me dis Star Bite thingy:

It was pretty good. I carried it around fur a long time before I ate it.

Mom and I have been furry upset about sad things going on - the deaths of Bear Bear and my good friend Dr. Dre, the TX greyhounds, and close to home, the loss of a friends husband. We found dis on Puddle's site and I'm keeping my paws crossed and thinking pawsitively about a world of love. We know the good things far outweigh the bad, but sometimes it's easy to forget...

I'm on a boat..!

Dis weekend mom and dad went to a big lake in western Nebraska wiff a bunch of friends. I got to go along!!! OMD, we had so much fun! We slept in a tent, ate wonderful foods, went swimming and boating, and went fur lovely walks, too.

The first morning, mom woke up early to find dis beautiful sunrise:

After breakfast, it was time fur a boat ride! Here I am modeling my life jacket. Safety first!

Me and mom on the boat. We got to watch people put long sticks on their feet and fall down in the water. Mostly they would glide on top of the water. Mostly. It was lots of fun! (No, mom didn't ski. Are you crazy? BOL!)

Later, back at shore, I did some swimming. Mom made me wear my life jacket fur to swim. Because I am such an impressive specimen of masculinity and have like 2% body fat, she was afraid I would sink like a stone.

In the evening I was furry tired from all the fun, and did lots of dis:

I went backpacking!

Since we had a little break from the heat wave on Saturday, mom and dad decided to go on an overnight backpacking trip to a nature area not far from our home. We live in the Loess Hills of Western Iowa, which are furry beautiful and furry steep... especially if you have short legs like moi. But mom said I did GREAT!

After we hiked to our campsite and set up the tent, we hiked around some more.

After the hike, I rested in the tent. I also learned what a "tick check" is. Boo!

I got a tired and had to take a nap...

My kitteh sister is 17 years old dis month!

Can you believe my sister Boomer is 17? Mom says she will probably outlive us all because she shows no sign of slowing down. She still gallops around the house, acts like she owns the place and thinks she is the Queen of the Universe.

She commandeered the box in the above photo a few weeks ago when mom re-did her files. She loves that box and lays in it all the time and would be furry sad if mom took it away. So mom let her keep it. It doesn't look furry comfurtable to me, but we all know cats are just weird...

Boomer is a slim and trim 7 pounds, has emerald eyes, and packs a mean right hook. She can bop you on the head like nobodies business! Mom says she is "berry bootiful."

Boomer LOVES to take naps!

When she is awake she is usually giving me dirty looks like dis:

Three Things...

Three things on dis Monday:

Number One - VIVA ESPANA!!! Mom was sooooo happy when they won the World Cup! It was Spain's first time ever being in the final. You could see how much it meant to them. Mom was all choked up seeing her beloved Iker crying for joy when it was over, and the emotion on his face as he held the gold trophy over his head. What a moment! What a game! What a team!

Mom has watched dis video of Iker kissing his reporter girlfriend about 100 times dis morning. She keeps saying "awwwww..."

Congrats to the Dutch for their spectacular tournament as well.

And congrats to South Africa, for sharing your beautiful country wiff the world and being such incredible hosts!

The other two things are, the baffroom remodel is going well, but with an older house you always run into problems you didn't expect. But it's coming along and is a little over half way done. Some of you have asked if my pawrents were using the outside fur their baffroom like I do, but no. There is a small baffroom in the basement.

The Third thing is, I don't think Tank's plan to mail all the squirrels to the Squirrel Cage Jail here in town will work. The people in my town are completely crazy. They love their squirrels and the town is somewhat famous for them because a lot of them are black. A black squirrel is the town mascot. It's even against the law to harm or harass a black squirrel here. They would never agree to lock them up, even if the jail clearly says SQUIRREL on it! I'll write a separate post about it soon. From a dogs point of view, it's truly messed up.

Well, that's it fur now. Mom needs the computer back.

Remodeling, Flower Friday, and some cuteness...

Mom and dad are in the middle of a total remodel of the baffroom. Remodeling means that mom and dad talk about things like subfloors and center lines, the toilet and sink are in the spare room but you can't use them, and mom can't take me fur a walk right now because she has to go to Home Depot again.

It also means there are lots of loud noises and power tools. I try to stay out of the way, but sometimes I come in to snoopervise.

Mom did get some pics fur my blog today, when I reminded her my last post was a whole week ago!

Fur Flower Friday, I'd like to show the blooming Hostas. They are going crazy wiff all the rain we've had. Aren't they pretty? Hostas are one of my favorite plants to pee on.

Unity in Diversity - More Spain

Hi furiends! For dis Unity in Diversity World Cup post, mom is going to try to talk about Spain without mentioning their furry handsome goalie. I seriously doubt that she can make it through a whole post, but I'm willing to give her a chance.

Mom visited Southern Spain in 2005, and her First Impression was that of beauty, and it stayed wiff her the whole trip. The colorful buildings, the cascading flowers, the food, the people... it was truly a feast fur the eyes.

There was a lime tree going outside mom and dad's hotel room. Mom thought that was just the neatest thing:

The food in Spain was just incredible! Mom wishes she had taken some pictures of it, but either didn't have the camera at the time, or just didn't think about it. But there was ham that was cured in the fresh mountain air for a year and then sliced paper thin. Fresh seafood and vegetables. The best steak she ever had, and Paella from a small restaurant that had to be ordered the night before so the restaurant owner could go to the sea the next morning and catch the seafood himself, and take it to his mother, who prepared it fresh for the evening meal. OMD!!!

Dis is the famous Cathedral of Seville. It was breathtaking inside and out!

Just a fun street scene. Mom loves horses...

Mom said she noticed a great sense of pride among the people, pride in who they were, what they were doing, and pride in their heritage and country. Fashion also seemed to be furry important in Spain, because most of the people looked like they had stepped out of a fashion magazine.

Mom said that people brought their dogs into the cafe's and restaurants!! The dogs were furry well behaved. That sounds like a furry wonderful place to me!!

Mom didn't go here, but she had to take a picture. She says dis is fur my kitteh friends:

Do you know what that dark mountain in the distance is?? It's Africa! Dis picture was taken in Gibraltar, and Africa was only 17 miles away. Mom waved at it, and said she would visit someday...

Boomer has her paws crossed fur Spain, who are playing in the quarterfinals on Saturday:

Don't stare too long into those eyes... she may turn you to stone. Or at least bop you on the head... BOL!

Oh My Dog, it's my Berfday!!!

Today is the day of my berf! I am 9 years old today. 9 years ago, baby Cloud came into the world to make it a cuter and suaver place, and to strike terror in the hearts of squirrels everywhere.

Mom says we get to go to PetSmart today fur some new toys!

I also got my big berfday spoon of peanut butter!!

Mom says she can't believe I'm 9 years old already... The time goes by so fast. Sometimes she gets sad when she sees how grey my muzzle is getting.

Why we are cheering for Spain in the World Cup

One word. Iker Casillas. Ok, that's two words. He is the goalie fur Spain and my mom has been sort of in love wiff him since we watched the World Cup four years ago. Well, another reason she likes Spain is because she visited Spain five years ago and loved it!

Look what was in my yard!!!

A few days ago, mom was making dinner and thought, "why am I hearing a turkey?" and then looked out the window and saw THIS and ran to get the camera!

I know a lot of people have wild turkeys in their yards all the time, but this is the first time in the 2 years we've lived here that I've seen one in our neighborhood (although there are plenty in the fields near us) let alone, that it came over our 6 foot fence!

I was barking like crazy, and REALLY wanted to go outside and chase it. Mom made me go sit on the sofa, even though I REALLY didn't want to. Can you believe it?!? :-(

She just took pictures of it walking around, while it CLEARLY is saying here, "Cloud! PLEASE come outside and chase me around the yard. It will be SO much fun..."

And there I was, stuck on the sofa during dis once in a lifetime moment...

Not cool, mom. Not cool...

Finally, the turkey had enough walking around and flew over the fence.

Mom says wild turkeys are very beautiful and intelligent birds and are fun to watch. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...

The good news is, she said if we start being invaded by wild turkeys and they become a pest, then I will be allowed to go outside and scare them away. But for now, dis one got a free pass.

OMD, I'm so embarrassed that it's been so long since I've posted, and that I've hardly been able to comment on any of my friends blogs. Mom and I feel really bad about that, especially since we appreciate it when friends take the time to comment on ours. It's just such a busy time of year right now. Mom says we will try to stop by some blogs to say hi dis afternoon...

Mom and I are doing great, (except for an accident where mom got poked in the eye by a branch and tore out a chunk of her cornea last week. OUCH!! The good news is it's healed up just fine!)

Drinking Fountain

Hi evfurryone! Here is a picture of me drinking from the new drinking fountain in the back yard that my dad made (mom helped too, BOL!) Mom says it is NOT a drinking fountain, it's just a fountain, but try telling that to the birds. They like it so much that I decided to try a drink, too. It tasted a little bit like feathers...

Mom is so busy right now she's not even sure which way is up. She hasn't had much time to be on the computer this week... hopefully we'll have time to blog next week. But we wanted to wish you a happy holiday weekend! Tell your pawrents to be safe!!

Hi furiends! Check out dis baby Robin that sat on our patio chair today. Isn't he cute? I love dis baby Robin and wanted to play wiff him, but mom said no. Mom says he/she is called a fledgling because it has feathers coming in to replace the floof.

Flower Friday, and I got a package!!!

Hi evfurrybody! Before I get to the flowers, I'm very excited to show you a package I got in the mail yesterday from my sweet, wonderful, beautiful friend Josie and her brofur Blues and their pawsome mom! I know most of you know Josie, but if you don't you should go check out her blog and get to know them. Josie and her mom are so kind and loving. Josie is a therapy dog, and she and her mom go places to help cheer people up who are sick or in need of a friend. Isn't that wonderful? We love Josie and her mom furry, furry much!

Mom took the package outside so she could get good pictures. I walked around the box sniffing it until mom opened it fur me...

Today is my 100th post!!! WooHoo, how exciting!!!

I started dis blog on July 3, 2009 just fur fun. Mom thought I deserved my own blog, since I kept making appearances on hers. I had no idea how many new friends I would make, or how much fun it would be, and the love that abounds in the pet blog community! Thank you everyone fur making me feel so welcome, and so loved...!

In honor of my 100th post, I will leave you with a few pictures of cuteness from the last year. Some of you may not have seen these before. But even if you have, cute pictures are always good to revisit...

Flower Friday, and I got a card!

Hi friends! I'm happy to show some flowers in our yard fur Flower Friday. The first one is from the Weeping Cherry tree. It was covered wiff flowers, but a strong wind came and blew most of them away! Mom managed to get a nice picture of these guys who hung on.

(Mom is glad to be able to see it bloom, because she missed it last Spring as she was in Seattle and Vancouver when it bloomed. Of course, she got to see all of their lovely flowering trees, but she is happy to see dis one too!)

Next is some purple flowers that she doesn't know what they are. **Update - they are Vinca Minor. Thanks Josie!!** Mom says they are pretty. Dis is all the flowers that's blooming in our yard right now, but there should be tons more soon.

The prettiest picture of all, of course of is me patrolling the yard. Mom still hasn't done anything about those ground squirrels. She is going to try putting Boomer's used cat litter by the dens in hopes of scaring them away. It should work, because I've never smelled anything scarier than what comes out of Boomer's litter box, BOL!

And guess what??? I got a card from my good furiends the Houston Pittie Pack! Look at what they made fur me!! See how happy I am? I'm so furry proud to sit by dis card.

A new enemy in my yard!!!

This is NOT the work of the Evil Squirrel Army! A new enemy has infiltrated my yard - Burrows have been popping up all over our flower beds! They're 2 - 3 inches across, with what looks to be escape holes nearby. Does anyone know what they are??? Mom's pretty sure they aren't moles, because we've had mole tunnels and hills before and know what they look like.

I stick my nose in and sniff, but the critters are always hiding from me...

Another look:

I know they're NOT Prairie Dogs. I know they're NOT Meerkats (BOL!)

Are they some sort of ground squirrel? Some sort of gopher..?

But what perplexes me the most is.......

Why in the world would these critters build a city in MY YARD???

Me??? A RAT TERRIER!!!!

I'm just going to hide here and pretend I'm a tree. Maybe they'll show themselves...

Does anyone know what these things are??? We live in the Midwest. (Iowa)

Thundershirt Review!!!

In my post last week about the Thundershirt mom got me, I said I would let everyone know how it worked. We had our first thunderstorms of the year last night and early this morning.

And...........

It worked great!!!!!!!

The thunder started shortly after we had gone to bed. I began to shake, so mom got up and brought over the Thundershirt. I was excited because she had me wear it a little bit every day and gave me treats in it, so I already associated it with good things.

As soon as she fastened it snugly around me, I STOPPED SHAKING!!! I was still a little nervous about the loud thunder at first, but I never developed the usual anxiety symptoms of panting and severe trembling! I went to sleep!! We ALL got to sleep, instead of me keeping mom up all night like I used to. (Mom really likes this part!)

Mom and I are both totally in love wiff dis Thundershirt!!! We give it two thumbs and four paws!! If any of you dawgs are skeered of thunder, I highly recommend it. (If it doesn't work, the website says you can send it back, too!)

Cloud's mom here: It was heartbreaking to watch Cloud be so scared of thunder, and it's a huge relief to find something that really works to make him feel better. It's like a miracle!

I got a Thundershirt!!!

Since we moved to dis house on top of the highest hill around, I've developed a terrible fear of thunder. I know, I know... You say, "Cloud, you're a Wonder Dog. How can YOU be skeered of thunder???"

Well now, Superman has kryptonite, Cloud has thunder. The end.

Some of you may remember my very first poem that I wrote waaaaaay back when I started my blog. I'll give you a hint. It was about thunder.

Seriously, the thunder is twice as loud at this house as our old one in town. It rattles the windows. It splits the sky. It chills me to my bones. My real bones, not my toy ones.

So mom read about dis thing called a Thundershirt, and how it helps dogs be less scared of thunder by putting gentle pressure on their torso, like a constant hug.

Hmmm...I like hugs!

We went outside fur to take some good photos of it.

It feels like Spring!!

We finally had a day of sunshine! After weeks of cold and rain and overcast days, it was 50 degrees today!

See dis? Dis is the LAST of our snow! Yep, it's all gone. Even dis pile has melted away since mom took the picture earlier today. And tomorrow is supposed to be 60 degrees!!! Smell ya later, winter!!!

(Mom says the camera loves me. Well of course it does! I mean, why wouldn't it..?)

Hi furiends! The last time I blogged, I showed you dat here in SiberIA, my yard still looked like dis, wiff only a tiny little bare patch of ground where the snow had melted.

By the next day, the bare patch had started to grow:

Fur those of you who don't realize the momentousness of dis, try to understand that my yard has been BURIED under deep, cold, nekkid belly freezing SNOW since the beginning of December 2009. THREE MONTHS STRAIGHT!!!

My dear friend Max from South Africa came to visit me during his world tour! I was so excited!!! The love and joy and friendship and inspiration Max and his mom share through his blog mean so much to us. We love them very much!

When Max got here, I had to show him my yard. First, I taught him how to snowwalk. Look at him, he's a natural!

Then I showed him how you can stick your nose down into the snowy weeds and sniff to find some enemy mice. He didn't seem as interested in dis activity as I did. In fact, he just smiled politely and nodded.

Guess what happened next - WE CAUGHT GIGANTOR THE SQUIRREL!!! Teamwork, baby! That's what I was missing, it was too hard to catch him on my own, I needed my buddy Maxdog to help me! BOL, I look hungry...

We had a grand time playing outside. But soon we were cold and tired and wanted to come inside and rest before Max had to continue on his tour. It was wonderful to snuggle wiff my dear, sweet friend before he had to go.

I can't help it.... We've been buried under snow fur TWO MONTHS STRAIGHT!!!

I furgot what the ground looks like! Is it really still there under all dis snow??? Mom says Spring will be here soon, but I'm beginning to have my doubts...

I'm sorry if my pictures last week of Boomer left any dawgs shaken up or traumatized in any way. I'm just keepin' it real. Dis what I have to live wiff. Dis is the reality, people! Just be glad you don't have to share your mom wiff the Queen of the Universe. To answer a few questions and comments about Miss Grouchypants:

Miss Ali Z says Boomer probably plans to live to at least 25 just so she can continue to bop me on the head.

Ali, my mom has always said that Boomer plans to outlive us all. At 16 and a half, Boomer still gallops around the house and acts very youthful while she's bopping me on the head.

Tank said he was more than traumatized by the pics of Boomer and almost kicked the bucket!

Tank, I don't think there should EVER be ANY Boomer posts on MY blog. I'll try to work on mom to make sure it doesn't happen again. At least there's no pictures dis time. I'm grateful fur that...

Madi says "If Boomer ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

Madi, that's the rule in dis house - Boomer always gets first dibs on licking the bowl after mom or dad has ice cream or something else yummy. I have to SIT AND WATCH til she's done!!! She also gets to kick me off moms lap. Not fair at all, but mom says a 16 year old cat can have anything she wants. >:-/

Martine and Twink, it's totally unfair the cat abuse we dawgs have to put up wiff!

Josie says she gets along wiff cats.

Hmmm... Josie, maybe you can tell me your secret fur getting along wiff cats. I'm out of ideas. I very nicely lay down next to Boomer yesterday and she got up and walked away! I was crushed! Not really, cuz now I had the heater vent all to myself... (And thanks fur all your kind words, Josie.)

My mom wrote dis poem and wants to dedicate dis post to all the special ones who have gone to the Bridge to wait fur their families. One year ago, Feb 9th 2009, my brudder Benny went to the Rainbow Bridge. Mom misses her sweet and gentle friend, and I miss snuggling wiff my brudder and humping him when mom gave him more attention than me. Well, is true! I'm little, but I was Top Dog, baby!

Some of you may not know my sister kitteh Boomer, AKA The Queen of the Universe. She is 16 going on 17. Grouchy. No sense of humor. Always kicking me off mom's lap or bopping me on the head fur NO GOOD REASON!

(Some of you may bring up the fact dat I tried to hump Boomer last year. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I was just trying to be "top dog.")

My mom says she is "Berry Bootiful," and "The Most Bootiful Girl in the World," and tells her every day! Me, I don't see it, but whatever, mom.

Ok, not really. She is probably finking about how much fun it is to walk on me when I'm under the covers and den bopping me when I stick my head out!

She really seems to love mom, though. She follows her around all the time.

Please say a prayer fur our friend Max in South Africa. We luv him so and it makes us sad he isn't doing well. This hits home, because Mom's been thinking about my brudder Benny a lot lately. One week from today it will be one year since he went to the Bridge.

I tell my mom not to be sad, but to remember all the love and good times, and to enjoy all the good things around us today. These are what's important. The sun is shining, spring will be here soon, and love never dies.

Mom's been super busy this week, so not much time fur blogging. But I had to share these two snow squee pictures wiff you. We still have lots of snow here - it melts a little, then we get a little more. Sometimes it has the consistency of a giant sno-cone. Sometimes it's light and fluffy. Sometimes it's frozen hard and good fur snowwalking.

Cloud Snowwalker (wiff bonus SQUEEE)

Dis post is fur everyone who is sad their snow melted away. As you can see, we still have lots of snow in Iowa. But wiff slightly above freezing temps in the daytime, then freezing at night, the snow has developed a thin crust of ice on the top. I can now WALK ON TOP OF SNOW!!! Dis feat has earned me new nickname of Cloud Snowwalker.

So the other day I was out in the backyard wiff mom while she was taking pictures of stuff like dis:

When she noticed me peeking out from behind a snowbank. I was looking fur rabbits. Woo may have to biggify picture fur to see me:

I stood up to say "Oh, HI!"

I decided to climb over the snowbank.

I fell through the crust! Dis happens sometimes when you're a Snowwalker.

Mom made a video of our walk yesterday. I'm SO happy that it's warmed up enough fur us to go on walks. **dances a jig**

I hope you like dis video. You get to see my leg-lifting skills, snow-yellowing skills, shaking skills, trotting skills, and also my ears standing straight up and a huge pile of snow at the end. As a bonus, you get to see my "inner wolf!" That's what mom calls my shadow cuz it looks like a wolf. BOL!

Not much to report here. Snow, snow, snow. Cold, cold, COLD!!! Snow. Wind. Snow. Wind. Cold. I could go on, but that's about it. It's been about 20 below zero around these parts with the wind chills. I've decided not to get out of bed until Spring.

Mom: You are cute. Besides, you need something to blog about today...

Me: Hmmph!

That's about it. Gigantor is burning up his fat reserves in dis cold. He's not quite as monsterous as a few weeks ago. But he still lives up to his name:

Mom says we are having a heat wave next week. The temps will be in the 20's and 30's!!!! Do you realize that will feel 50 - 60 degrees warmer than it does now??? HOORAY!!!

Until then, I am keeping warm under mom's desk. I hope everyone is snug and warm out there...

Happy New Year everybody!!! I wanted to say how very happy I am to have made such good furiends in my first year of blogging. Thank you all fur taking the time to visit my blog and all your nice comments. Dis blogging stuff sure has been fun!

Gigantor the Squirrel!!!

Furiends, I gotta serious problem over here. Some of you may have seen me mention gigantic squirrels invading my backyard lately. Well here are pictures of the King of Large Squirrels. His name is Gigantor, and mom thinks he is almost as big as me!

The evil!

Look at this massive creature! When he runs across our roof it sounds like a bowling ball!

Dis is the tree you've seen me stand next to many times. He's enormous!

He even tries to eat the birds suet!!!

BOL, he's all rolly-poly!

Every day dis mammoth creature tries to get into the bird feeder, and every day he fails. He's either not too bright, or he's testing it systematically for weaknesses. BOL!

As you can see, dis is squirrel proof - his weight closes the gate and he gets nothin'!

NOTHIN'! Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

Soon the behemoth realizes he is foiled...

(the feeder is about 20 inches tall. So it looks like he is about 16 inches long NOT including his tail. OMD!!!)

and proceeds to lumber his bulky self up the feeder...

Supersize!

Almost there...

and up he goes...

Like I said, dis is a fairly big feeder. For a size comparison, here is a Red Bellied Woodpecker on it. Red Bellied Woodpeckers are no slouch of the bird world, I tell 'ya. If you've ever seen one, you know they are pretty big!!!

He haunts my dreams...

Dis my picture fur the Wednesday Lol. Pretty funny, right?

And DIS is what I woke up to dis morning. NOT funny to me at all!

We had 10 inches of snow and high winds last night and today. According to accuweather.com, the wind chill right now is -25 below zero!!! Which translates to 2500 below zero when you have a nekkid belly like me!

Dis is where I pee'd dis morning, BOL!

And dis is me warming up my feets by the heater afterwards.

Dis is me in my red hoodie after daddy shoveled a path to the garage.

Thinking about jumping into the snow to go on squirrel patrol and mark my territory.

Deciding to pee right here instead.

Ok, maybe it's not the frozen tundra, but baby it's cold outside!!!

I started my rounds wiff checking to make sure there were no enemy squirrels in the tree...

Nope. No enemy here. Dis area is secure!

Then I check on the bush wiff the twisty branches. No sign of the enemy, so I give the All Clear signal by lifting my front paw. Time to go check on the lattice by the fence...

Shhhh... I'm listening fur to see if there is a rabbit or mouse in here.

Maybe I'd better sniff around...

Mom says the back of my ears are SO cute. Well, of course they are, but I really don't see why she has to talk about it!

I had a car ride too, I went on a road trip to visit grandma and grandpa fur Thanksgiving! Mom is trying to get caught up wiff stuff, but says we will try to stop by some blogs today.

My surprise - I know a secret...

My mom is going to paint TWIX!!! It's a Christmas present fur her daddy, so Twix can't say anything about it on her blog in case he reads it. So mom's going to blog about it, so all friends of Twix will be able to see her portrait! Mom is so excited to be painting sweet Twix!!!

You can watch the progress on moms blog here if you want to see what it will look like.

It's at the very beginning stage right now - she has the sketch finished and is ready to start painting. Mom says she won't be able to blog much this week because of the holiday, but will post updates when she can as the painting progresses.

And remember - Shhhhh..... it's a surprise for her daddy, so don't post any comments about the painting on Twix's blog until she says it's ok...

Hi everyone! I have two questions that are awaiting answering, so I'll get right down to it.

Madi the kitty wants to know if I have any idea as to why dis picture was orange???

Madi, my mom says that light colors reflect the colors around them. That's why when she paints white fur, it is rarely pure white. Next time you are laying by something colorful, ask your mom to look at your white fur and see if it is reflecting some of those colors. (This happens wiff black fur too!) So moms best guess is something with the camera settings may have let enough light in the lens to over exaggerate the beige carpet reflecting the red walls.

I think she's full of beans. What really happened is the Mothership was getting ready to beam you up, but was blocked by your exceedingly strong Diva Aura. I'm glad because I like having you fur a blog friend Madi.

And finally the Feisty Three say I have so many great pictures (thanks!) and want to know if I mind having my picture taken?

Well guys, I usually don't mind it, because it seems to make mom happy, and when mom is happy, everyone is (usually) happy. I don't mind the attention either, but sometimes I pout if I have to "sit" and "stay" fur pictures fur too long. Then all my pictures look sad and mom tells me to go play, BOL! Works like a charm... ;-)
